What is the best flooring for your pets?

Most pet owner’s would do just about anything for their pet’s…including changing household flooring to accommodate their needs.
Whether your pet is young or old, big or small, long haired or short - we will use our resources to help you!

Hardwood flooring is such a popular demand in homes lately, but it’s just not a reasonable solution, for many reasons…

-pet urine can stain hardwood
-water bowl and other accidents can seep into wood and damage it
-scratches from pets’ nails damage the surface of the floor

…just to name a few. However, we have many other flooring options that are suitable for you and your pet!

Stone tile flooring is another great option because it doesn’t scratch easily, well it would really hurt the dog more than the floor to scratch stone tile!  When pets have accidents on the stone tile floor, there is much less reason to worry over how this will impact the condition of the flooring. The stone tile flooring gives you an easy cleaning time, a quality that will just give you a great time while keeping your dog should it mess up with the floor. There are several stone options like slate and marble, but granite is the best because of its ease of maintenance.

Tile (Ceramic & Porcelain) flooring is one of the best flooring options for animals. It won’t scratch easily. If pets don’t manage to make it outside before relieving themselves, the urine won’t damage the condition of the floor as it would with hardwood.  It can easily be cleaned through waxing and rubbing, and there are not many worries about a scratched floor because the effect is not easily perceptible.

Laminate flooring is a great alternative to traditional hardwood flooring. As nice as laminate flooring sounds for humans, for animals, not so much…the flooring becomes very slippery, making it harder for dogs to keep balance. However, laminate won’t show scratches as easily as some other surfaces, but because they are slippery and uncomfortable to lie on, rugs are recommended throughout the home to help the pet.

Vinyl flooring is mistakenly one of the best flooring options for pets. The surface is even and continuously leaving you with no worries about fluid seepage. The flooring is scratch and stain resistant, low in allergens, easy to clean and maintain, and even quiet to walk on.

Carpet flooring is easily the worst flooring option you could choose. However, it is the most cost effective. So if it comes down to carpet, the best thing to do is choose a carpet without loops as pet nails can snag on the loops and cause the carpet to wear faster. Take extra care of the carpet, because even normal wear and tear on carpet in a pet-free home happens faster than with other flooring options.

Whatever new flooring you select, focus on easily maintained, durable and mildew-resistant designs. Pet-friendly (and pet-resistant) flooring also ensures you won’t grow frustrated with damage caused by your four-legged family members. These days, you don’t have to sacrifice comfort and durability for style.
